How we’re using LinkedIn Learning to drive green skills

As a proud green jobs employer, we’re continually looking for new ways to support our colleagues develop the green skills needed to drive the transition to cleaner, sustainable and more affordable energy.

But our recent research1 has found that lack of access to training on green skills and sustainability acts as a barrier for young people when looking to build a green career, with 29% of 18 to 24-year-olds stating they can’t get training to contribute to a greener workplace1.

We’re committed to making it easy for all our colleagues to access Learning & Development opportunities on green skills through our partnership with LinkedIn Learning, an online learning platform that offers courses led by subject experts. Our colleagues have watched more than 87,000 LinkedIn Learning courses in the last two years and over 1,500 colleagues in the UK are signed up to the platform.

Helen Bradbury, our Chief People Officer, shares her insights on the benefits LinkedIn Learning can bring our colleagues: “It's on us to make new energy work and we all need to level the playing field on green jobs for the energy transition to be a success. At E.ON, we’re committed to leading the energy transition and as a key part of this, enabling and supporting green opportunities for younger workers looking to build an impactful career.  And we’re proud to have opened access to green skills training to all our colleagues through our partnership with LinkedIn Learning.”

Courses on green skills are among the most popular with our colleagues, with two of the top five most completed on this topic. And colleagues are adding to their sustainability knowledge through courses such as ‘The Employee’s Guide to Sustainability’ and ‘Closing the Green Skills Gap to Power a Greener Economy’.

As a leading UK employer, we’re proud to lead the way through a number of initiatives, such as LinkedIn Learning, which aim to not only support our own colleagues to develop the skills of the future, but also deliver a wider positive societal impact by inspiring other organisations to join us in creating better workplaces across the country.
