How E.ON is championing mental health

At E.ON, we focus on championing a happy and healthy work environment, and in turn, creating a company led by happy and healthy employees.

At the core of what we stand for at E.ON, there is a focus on championing a happy and healthy work environment, and in turn, creating a company led by happy and healthy employees. Across the business, E.ON runs a variety of initiatives, networks and policies that supports the many complexities of mental health.

We’re created a company where everyone has purpose, where we help and support each other to learn and grow and where flexible working and market leading benefits are the norm. Below are just a few of the ways in which we champion mental health amongst our colleagues and beyond:

Supporting flexible working

We’re helping all working families find a balance and approach that works for them. All our policies and benefits recognise modern families and the different experiences we all have becoming and raising a family.

Through feedback from our Working Families Network and looking at best practice, we’re breaking down gendered barriers around childcare and promoting equality in the workplace. Our previously complex flexible working policy has been replaced with simple to use principles helping us to embed flexibility into how we work every day, supporting job sharing and helping families find balance.

Since we introduced Equal Parent leave, over 130 new dads have taken up this benefit, allowing parents (regardless of gender) equal paid time off, which can be taken flexibly and help towards the cost of childcare.

MyEAP & Wellbeing Hub

E.ON’s employee assistance programme (EAP) is a free 24-hour counselling and referral service provided through myEAP, an independent source of confidential, impartial information, offering advice and support designed to help you find the most appropriate solution quickly and easily.

The EAP is open to all UK employees and their families and provides confidential information, advice and counselling support when needed.

Our inclusion networks

Our colleague-led inclusion networks are supportive communities promoting allyship, equality, diversity and inclusion across E.ON in the UK - providing supportive spaces for colleagues, sharing resources and being the voice of colleagues in underrepresented groups.

Through our nine colleague led networks, we’re creating communities for colleagues to share experiences, find and give support to others and create a sense of belonging. They’re continuously challenging us to improve the way do things, making E.ON a better place for everyone

Mind partnership

E.ON has announced that, together with its colleagues, the company has raised £250,000 for national mental health charity Mind. E.ON has been working with the charity since 2022 as part of its wider commitment to wellbeing.

E.ON match funds colleague donations for Mind, supporting colleagues’ efforts and doubling their donations, helping even more people get the help they need with their mental health. This is important as one in four people will experience a mental health problem in a given year.

Hundreds of E.ON colleagues have been instrumental in helping raise money for Mind, from the extremes of marathons and skydives to the everyday, such as bake sales and group walks. E.ON’s Big Spring Clean earlier this year also raised over £8,000 in donations of bags of colleagues’ clothes to Mind shops across the country.

My Care Concierge

At E.ON we want to help our colleagues find a balance for the care they give, through the tools and resources we provide. Provided through Legal and General, our Care Concierge benefit is a free resource which provides access to expert information and guidance when it comes to caring.

Colleagues are also able to speak to a care expert over the phone to talk about a specific care journey, whether you are thinking about retiring and want to plan ahead or whether you are providing care for a family member.

Together, we learn and grow

At E.ON, we’re leading the transition to a new energy world, making energy accessible, affordable and sustainable for everyone at home, in business and across entire cities and communities.

We will continue to raise awareness around mental health, providing assistance to our employees and creating an inclusive and supportive place to work. Together, we learn and grow.
