Fancy a brew? We talked it through on Time to Talk day

Time to Talk Day is today and at E.ON, we’ve encouraged our colleagues to join in for a day dedicated to conversations about mental health. Whether seeking support or offering it, many discovered that a simple chat could make a significant difference.

Time to Talk Day is the UK’s largest mental health conversation, held annually to inspire open and supportive discussions.

Time to Talk Day is run by our charity partner, Mind, in collaboration with Rethink Mental Illness, and this year’s event was supported by the Co-op. The goal is to reduce stigma, foster understanding, and create safe spaces for mental health discussions in homes, communities, and workplaces.

Our Time to Talk sessions

A safe space with Saurav Chaudhuri

Saurav Chaudhuri, Head of Innovation at E.ON, brought his heartfelt commitment to mental health to life by hosting a Time to Talk session. Known for his openness, Saurav has been a vocal advocate for breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health conversations, drawing on his personal experiences to inspire others.

The session was designed to be a truly safe and intimate environment where participants were invited to share their stories, listen to others, or simply be present in a supportive space where everyone’s feelings were valued and respected.

Webinar with Mind and Gavin’s story

In addition to Saurav’s session, colleagues had the chance to join a special webinar hosted by Mind.

This session featured Gavin, a Derbyshire Mind Trustee, who shared his deeply personal mental health journey, which began when he was very young. Gavin’s story resonated with many, as he spoke with honesty and vulnerability about his challenges and how he found ways to cope and thrive.

The interactive format included a Q&A session, where participants could engage with Gavin, ask questions, and take away meaningful insights from his experiences.

These sessions were a testament to the power of sharing and listening, creating spaces where colleagues felt less alone and more supported.

Taking time to talk

Whether that’s grabbing a cuppa with a colleague, scheduling a check-in call with a teammate, or picking up the phone to a friend or family member, talking is good for the soul. Whether you want to get something off your chest, or want to support someone else, we’re breaking down the barriers associated with talking about mental health, helping you feel less alone.

From encouraging the conversation around men’s mental health, to supporting our colleagues on their fundraising efforts, E.ON is dedicated to prioritising the wellbeing of our colleagues, not just today – but every day.

And by raising awareness about our approach to the day, we hope to inspire other organisations across the country to follow suit, helping take society forward by creating workplaces that are welcoming safe spaces for all colleagues to feel supported and valued.
