Inclusive support for life’s key moments
Our inclusive culture fosters a workplace where everyone feels respected, valued, and empowered to bring their whole selves to work. We've expanded support for colleagues during key life stages — whether they’re growing families, caregiving, or managing personal challenges like mental health. From gender-neutral parental leave to a comprehensive fertility support package, we’ve created a space where all families thrive. Notably, more than 200 dads have taken equal parental leave, which is over 99% of those eligible. The incredible response to this demonstrates the family friendly culture we have created at E.ON. Plus, our fertility leave offers unlimited paid leave for both partners during treatment.
Helen Bradbury, Chief People Officer at E.ON UK said: " We’re delighted to be shortlisted for the Human Company of the Year award. It reflects our unwavering commitment to building an inclusive culture where everyone feels respected, valued, and supported. At E.ON, we know that when our people thrive, so does our business and this recognition reinforces the importance of our work to support colleagues through every stage of life. We’re proud to continue driving positive change in the workplace and beyond."
Our nine inclusion networks — representing groups such as disability, racial inclusion, and neurodiversity — provide colleagues with a platform to drive real change. Over the past 18 months, we’ve hosted over 100 listening events on diverse topics, from racial inclusion to menopause, creating empathy and fostering a deeper sense of community. These efforts have helped us build a more inclusive and engaged workplace.
E.ON’s commitment to flexible working is another cornerstone of our approach, with 87% of employees satisfied with their work-life balance. Initiatives like our "Women in Leadership" programme have supported 250 women, with over 50% achieving promotions or lateral moves. These efforts have created a pipeline of diverse talent, with 65% of participants in our development networks being women and 25% ethnically diverse.
Our apprenticeship programme has also seen success, with 23% of apprentices from ethnically diverse backgrounds and nearly 45% of female apprentices in STEM roles, ensuring the next generation of leaders reflects the communities we serve.
Empowering people and progress
Being shortlisted for this award reaffirms our commitment to making E.ON a human-first organisation, where inclusion and support for every individual are at the heart of what we do.
We continue to push the boundaries of what it means to be a truly human company, empowering our people to shape the future of energy together.
