Celebrating our award-winning LGBT+ and Friends network
We’re so proud that our colleague-led LGBT+ and Friends network has been recognised as Outstanding LGBTQIA Network at this year’s British Diversity Awards.
Championing diversity and inclusion in all aspects is right at the heart of our business. We’re proud to be one of the UK’s top 10 most inclusive employers and strive to create a workplace environment where everyone feels comfortable bringing their authentic self to work.
A key part of fostering an inclusive workplace environment is our nine colleague-led networks that not only support our colleagues but promote allyship, equality, diversity and inclusion.
We’re delighted that the network has been recognised for the great work they do, having been awarded Outstanding LGBTQIA Network of the Year at the British Diversity Awards.
Our LGBT+ and Friends network brings together more than 1,500 colleagues from seven European countries and its success is thanks to a group of passionate colleagues, dedicated to providing a safe space for colleagues to come together and chat and unwavering support for our colleagues across Europe.
Phil McQuillen, Culture, Diversity & People Lead and co-chair of the LGBT+ and Friends network, said: “To simply be recognised in this category was incredible, but to win was next level. Against the backdrop of political and cultural change, to have a network like ours takes on a greater significance, and as a pan European organisation we have a responsibility to stand up for the LGBTQIA community and create safe spaces for all.”
The LGBT+ and Friends Network is woven into E.ON’s fabric, challenging norms, empowering colleagues, and redefining what inclusion means. This trailblazing network isn’t just about advocacy — it’s driving meaningful change across E.ON and beyond.
By highlighting what unites us rather than what sets us apart, the network has helped identify opportunities and supported E.ON to build policies that are LGBT+ inclusive. The network has been crucial in the review and development of our gender-neutral menopause guide, our Equal Parent leave, supporting colleagues through their fertility journeys, and our gender identity and reassignment policy.
At E.ON, we take pride in our colleague-led inclusion networks which help both colleagues and their families by offering support and guidance across many different topics. This award isn’t just for our LGBT+ and Friends network — it’s a celebration of all nine of our networks that have contributed to creating a more inclusive, supportive and diverse workplace.
