How we’re helping communities this Christmas

At E.ON, we believe in the power of community and the importance of giving back. As an energy company deeply rooted in towns and cities across the UK, we’re committed to making a positive difference in the places where we live and work.

At the centre of Coventry

Coventry is a community close to our hearts. We’ve joined forces with Coventry City Council to launch a pioneering UK-first 15-year energy partnership to transform the city’s approach to carbon reduction while also promoting new investment in the city and the growth of a new green economy.

This festive season, E.ON is continuing this support to Coventry Open Christmas Charity, an incredible organisation providing warmth, shelter, and hot meals to those in need during the holidays. With our deep-rooted presence in Coventry, the Energy Infrastructure Solutions UK team is taking this opportunity to give back.

As part of their efforts to support, a donation drop-off point was set up at our Westwood Business Park site in Coventry, which has been E.ON’s UK headquarters for over 30 years, collecting items such as bedding, clothing, toiletries and household items.

E.ON is inspired by colleagues like Jacqui Bojang, who has volunteered at the shelter for the past two Christmases. This year, she’s rallied the E.ON team to join her efforts.

“Jacqui is always doing things for others,” says James Hutton, from E.ON’s Commercial Services Team. “When she told me about her Christmas volunteering, I knew we could help spread the word and get even more support. Now, with E.ON’s Coventry partnership, we’re all pitching in to make a bigger impact.”

And it doesn’t stop there

At our Trinity office in Nottingham, we launched a Christmas Gift Appeal, collating presents for children who will be spending Christmas at Nottingham City Hospital.

Colleagues selected a label from a designated Christmas tree, each representing the age and gender of a child on the wards. After choosing a label, they purchased a thoughtful gift and handed it to E.ON’s Office Support Team for safekeeping. For those who preferred, monetary donations were also an option, ensuring everyone could contribute in a way that suited them.

Additionally, we’re incredibly grateful to radio station GEM106, who generously matched all of E.ON’s contributions, doubling the impact of our efforts.

We're proud to have also supported Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice's 'Recycle Your Christmas Tree' service as part of our dedication to the communities around our Blackburn Meadows biomass plant.

These are just a few examples of the ways in which we and our colleagues aim to support our local communities and deliver a positive social impact year-round. Together, we can make a difference.
