How insulation can help your winter wellbeing
E.ON Next is partnering with the National Pharmacy Association to raise awareness of the impact keeping your home warm can have on the nation’s mental and physical health and wellbeing.
Making the most of your home heating can help ensure your winter wellbeing. Having a warm home during the colder winter months is not only important for our comfort, but also for our wellbeing.
Cold, damp homes aren't just uncomfortable, they can negatively impact your health. Respiratory problems, heart issues, and mental health challenges are all linked to poor housing conditions1. By improving your home's energy efficiency through insulation, you could also support you and your family’s health and wellbeing.
This year E.ON Next is partnering with the National Pharmacy Association to raise awareness of the health benefits of a well-insulated home.
E.ON Next’s partnership with National Pharmacy Association
We’re committed to leading the energy transition and if we’re to succeed, it’s essential that every household in the UK is brought on this journey. The UK’s housing stock needs to improve for the UK to meet its net zero targets. And insulation is an important step on this journey.
Having a well-insulated home can lead to lower energy use and bills, increased comfort at home and less pressure on the NHS. The National Pharmacy Association represents over 10,000 independent pharmacies across the UK and by partnering with this organisation, E.ON Next can increase awareness of the help and support we offer with home insulation.
E.ON Next is also supporting ‘Ask Your Pharmacist Week’, from the 4th-11th November, which aims to drive awareness of the health support your local pharmacy can provide.
The role insulation can play
Insulation is not something many of us think about regularly, but it plays a vital role in making sure our homes stay warm.
Insulation helps prevent heat loss in your home by keeping warm air inside and stopping cold air from entering. Having the correct insulation in your home will mean that you need to use less energy to heat your home. It’s a good idea to check the insulation in your loft, walls and pipes as these are the main areas where heat can escape.
E.ON Next offers access to grants and schemes for insulation improvements. These are open to anyone eligible, and you don’t have to be an E.ON Next customer. So check if you’re eligible for free or part-funded cavity wall insulation as part of our support for the Great British Insulation Scheme.
What else you can do to help keep your home warm this winter
- Draught-proof your doors and windows. Choose a windy day and wet the back of your hand to help feel and locate where any draughts are in your home.
- Use your curtains to help keep the heat in and the cooler air out during the evenings and open them during the day to let the sunlight flood in and heat up your home.
- Programme timers for your heating to come on when you need it and only heat the rooms that you’re using.
- Get your boiler serviced to maintain its safety and efficiency. A boiler service can pick up small issues before they become a real problem which could result in your boiler breaking down.
Check if you’re eligible for extra support this winter
It’s worth being aware that you might be eligible for extra support to help with your energy bills. If you’re an E.ON Next customer and are struggling to pay your energy bills, get in touch to find out what help is available.
