E.ON recognised in the coveted Laureus Sport for Good Index
We’re proud that E.ON UK has been added to the 2024 Laureus Sport for Good Index. This is in recognition of our commitment to supporting young people through sports development across a variety of activations and campaigns in association with our sporting partners.
Over a successful four-year partnership, E.ON and Veloce Racing have gone from strength to strength. In 2024, E.ON extended its support of the Veloce Media Group becoming title partner of the all-electric Extreme E racing team, E.ON Next Veloce Racing, as well as working with the Veloce Media Group’s extensive global reach to create positive impact and opportunities around real-life racing and the ever-growing esport communities.
The shared values of the two organisations naturally led to further opportunities for collaboration. Spearheaded by the desire for tangible change, E.ON enlisted Veloce and its agency, MPA Creative to deliver multiple societal activities around the sporting calendar. This included the introduction of ‘Kids in Motorsport’ events and ‘Women in Sport’ forums and events throughout 2024 to deliver positive impacts across areas such as STEM (Science, Engineering, Technology and Maths) education and diversity and inclusion.
E.ON’s pledge to inspire the next generation of fans, athletes, engineers and drivers was hailed by Laureus Sport for Good’s independent judging panel and resulted in E.ON being added to the illustrious Laureus Sport for Good Index alongside names such as Toyota, Nissan, Adidas, Google, Nike, Lego and many other industry-leading companies.
Scott Somerville, E.ON UK’s Director of External Affairs, said: “Across all our UK brands – E.ON, E.ON Next and npower Business Solutions – we want to drive positive societal change through strategic sports partnerships that unite sustainability, diversity and community engagement.
“Working with organisations including The Football Association, Veloce Racing and Nottingham Forest FC, we strive to deliver initiatives that create lasting impact.
“From launching a nationwide grassroots football decarbonisation programme with the FA and implementing sustainable solutions with Nottingham Forest, to inspiring the next generation through Kids in Motorsports events and championing equality and diversity with Veloce Racing, E.ON clearly demonstrates how sport can drive meaningful environmental and social progress.”
E.ON’s vision for a sustainable future
E.ON's spot on the 2024 Laureus Sport for Good Index highlights the commitment that has been made to make a real difference through sports. With partners like Veloce Racing and The FA, E.ON is proving that sport can be a powerful force for good, inspiring young people, promoting sustainability, and supporting diversity and inclusion.
As we look to the future, E.ON plans to keep building these connections, using the energy of sport to bring communities together and create lasting, positive change.
