Celebrating International Men's Day 2024: Men’s Health Champions
As we focus on International Men’s Day 2024, E.ON is excited to support this year’s theme: Men’s Health Champions. At E.ON, we believe in tackling the health issues men face, fostering open discussions, and providing resources that help our colleagues live healthier, happier lives.
Here’s what we have planned to champion men’s health and wellbeing this International Men’s Day:
Fertility café: championing men’s fertility and reproductive health
For many men, the journey of fertility can be challenging and often under-discussed. Through our Fertility Forum, we’re hosting a special Fertility Café session to raise awareness around male fertility issues, covering topics like the impact of lifestyle choices, such as diet and exercise, to managing stress and recognising potential medical concerns.
This is a space for open dialogue about men’s fertility, the unique role men play in the fertility journey, and the challenges they face. We aim to break down stigma and provide support, empowering men with the information they need and openly discussing reproductive health.
Listening café: supporting dads and working families
Work-life balance is an important part of the journey for many parents. Our Listening Café for dads and working families, led by Nick Watchorn and Tony Goodwin, will focus on the unique experiences of fathers in the workplace.
We’ll be discussing:
- breaking down stigma: addressing myths around taking career breaks and career progression.
- real-life stories: hearing first-hand experiences from colleagues and leaders on balancing fatherhood and work.
- opportunities for growth: exploring how career breaks and flexible work arrangements can provide growth opportunities.
- policy impact: delving into E.ON’s support policies for dads and finding ways to enhance them.
Our Listening Cafés are designed to be safe spaces where employees can share, listen, and contribute to building an inclusive, supportive environment for fathers and families. This is an opportunity to bring forward personal experiences, support colleagues, and promote an understanding culture. These invaluable insights and experiences will help make E.ON a better workplace for everyone.
Equal Parent Leave: supporting work-life balance for all parents
At E.ON, our Equal Parent Leave program is a core part of how we support working parents. With 18 weeks of paid leave available to all new parents, regardless of gender, this policy allows parents to take the time they need to be with their families. We’ve seen over 130 new fathers make use of this benefit, reflecting our commitment to supporting a balanced work-life experience.
Mind partnership: prioritising mental health
Supporting mental health is central to our mission, and our partnership with Mind is a testament to our commitment. Through this partnership, we offer resources, events, and support systems designed to help employees address and manage mental health issues. Driving real change
International Men’s Day is an opportunity for us all to reflect on how we can better support the men in our lives – whether through open discussions about fertility and fatherhood, supportive policies, or mental health initiatives.
At E.ON, we’re proud to champion men’s health and wellbeing as we continue to build an inclusive workplace for everyone.
