High Street highlights: E.ON Control Solutions making the best of business

Check out some of the country’s best-known brands which rely on our energy management expertise to keep their energy use efficient and effective

Did you know our building management specialists E.ON Control Solutions (ECS) work with some of the UK’s best-known retailers, remotely managing and optimising literally thousands of business premises around Europe to make sure they operate efficiently and effectively.

It’s also used by hospitals, leisure centres, retailers, hotels, and the manufacturing sector to analyse how much energy they’re using. By capturing and monitoring their energy and buildings data, ECS can help customers to find ways of reducing their energy consumption, lowering their carbon footprint and reducing their bills.

To do that, ECS relies on its new data management platform, Optimum Connect and Control.

Tesco were one of the first major brands to recognise the power and value of Optimum, signing up 800 of their sites. The latest to come on board were high-street giants Boots and TK Maxx who have signed up almost 900 of their sites.

What kind of data does the energy management system collect?

Optimum is our cloud-based energy management system that provides detailed information on electricity, gas and water consumption. It analyses how much power is being used in manufacturing processes, and even tracks temperature changes, energy loss, air humidity and emission levels.

What does it do with the data?

All the data appears on a dashboard so customers can see how they’re using energy and quickly spot any issues, such as the heating being on when the building is empty. It’s also possible to see the positive difference made by energy efficiency measures, such LED lighting.

So how about Optimum Connect and Control?

Connect and Control takes things one step further. It allows customers to remotely access their on-site energy management system and see how all their sites across are performing, regardless of where in the world they are. That real-time performance data means they can make changes remotely to reduce their energy use.

Data isn’t for everybody, so the team of ECS engineers across the country help customers to monitor and interpret their energy use, as well as the performance of their connected assets. They can also make recommendations to improve energy efficiency and visit a site in person if they spot a problem through the dashboards.

At E.ON, we firmly believe technology is the key to unlocking the full potential of renewable energy. Optimum Connect and Control is just one example of how we continuously innovate and develop new digital solutions to drive the energy transition.
