Solar Panels on a Roof

E.ON Next partners with tech platform Kuppa to advance renewable energy use

How solar adoption is being simplified with cutting-edge tools and cost-effective solutions for a more sustainable, efficient Britain

E.ON Next is pressing forward with the move towards renewable energy by teaming up with energy platform Kuppa to advance the use of its residential solar planning tools.

This collaboration promises to simplify and accelerate the adoption of solar power in the UK, combining technological advances with practical energy solutions.

At the core of Kuppa’s offering is its new solar technology, which uses advanced algorithms to produce precise system layouts, estimated costs, and performance benefits within seconds.

By leveraging aerial photography, photogrammetry, and 3D height data, Kuppa’s software analyses a property’s roof orientation, obstructions, and shading patterns, and then finds a solar panel layout automatically.

It also flags areas where prediction reliability is lower, to build trust with customers.

The ground-breaking approach pairs seamlessly with E.ON Next’s focus on accessible and sustainable energy solutions.

E.ON Next customers already benefit from flexible solar financing options, including 0% APR over 36 months and an exclusive Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) tariff, which rewards households for electricity exported back to the grid.
According to E.ON, installing a 12-panel system combined with a 5.1kWh solar battery could save households up to £780 on their annual energy bill, with additional SEG earnings of up to £356*.

Streamlining Solar Adoption

Kuppa’s platform aims to resolve common barriers to solar adoption, including the perceived complexity of planning installations.

Homeowners can now access detailed energy output predictions through the company’s streamlined interface.

The system’s capacity to model sun positions across seasons ensures panels are placed for year-round efficiency – an automation designed to save time for installers.

The partnership aligns with E.ON Next’s commitment to empower customers to make greener choices.

Through Kuppa’s integration, potential solar adopters can more easily determine the viability of installations on their properties, factoring in local conditions like roof pitch, shading, and geographic sunlight variations.

E.ON Next’s solar systems start from £4,995 for a six-panel array, and includes everything from consultation to installation, eliminating hidden costs.

Beyond Solar: Holistic Home Electrification

Kuppa’s tools don’t stop at solar.

They integrate with wider energy solutions, including heat pumps and battery storage, paving the way for fully electrified homes.

It's a holistic approach supports the UK's ambitious targets for carbon neutrality, with renewable energy playing a pivotal role in reducing household emissions.

Reinier Zeldenrust, Kuppa’s Co-Founder and CTO, said: “We’re delighted to partner with E.ON Next and bring this game-changer to the residential solar industry.

“By combining our advanced algorithms with real-world data, we’ve developed technologies that transform how solar installations are assessed, planned, and delivered – with the ultimate goal of scaling innovation and accelerating the UK’s energy transition.”

E.ON Next’s Chief Commercial Officer Julian Lennertz said: “Our collaboration with Kuppa means we can provide smarter tools for people to embrace renewable energy, taking the guesswork out of a more sustainable lifestyle.”

Another Step Towards Net Zero

The collaboration between Kuppa and E.ON Next reflects a growing trend of technology-driven innovation in the renewable energy sector.

Solar installations in the UK have surged in popularity, buoyed by falling costs and rising energy prices.

E.ON Next has been highlighting how solar systems not only reduce electricity bills but also provide a means for households to generate their own power, decreasing reliance on the National Grid.

Kuppa’s new technology aims to tap into this demand by making solar planning more accessible and intuitive.

The integration of their tools with E.ON Next’s services offers a glimpse into a future where renewable energy adoption is not only practical but also appealingly straightforward.

For households eager to explore solar energy, the partnership offers a compelling proposition: a streamlined, cost-effective way to live more sustainably, with long-term savings and a reduced carbon footprint as the rewards.
