E.ON Next leads charge in renewable energy with innovative weather-driven report on Channel 5

E.ON Next has partnered with Channel 5 to launch a groundbreaking daily weather-driven Energy Outlook Report to help UK households make greener choices through insights on renewable energy supply.

E.ON Next is proud to announce its partnership with Channel 5’s first bespoke Energy Outlook Report, produced in collaboration with ITN and the Met Office. This unique and innovative concept aims to provide viewers with daily insights into how weather patterns impact the UK's renewable energy supply, empowering households to make informed decisions about their energy consumption.

From Monday to Friday, Channel 5 viewers can tune into three reports daily, scheduled around Channel 5 News at lunchtime and early evening, as well as a report on Saturdays and Sundays. Running from October 2024 to January 2025, the partnership sees E.ON’s renewable solutions, including electric vehicle tariffs, solar energy options, air source heat pumps, and the Next Gust tariff feature around the reports.

Understanding impact of weather on energy

The weather influences our daily lives in numerous ways, from what we wear to our holiday plans. However, its effect on energy production is often overlooked. This new report will shed light on critical weather parameters that directly impact renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power.

During each informative segment, presenters from the Met Office will highlight key weather conditions, enabling viewers to understand how the forecast could affect their energy usage.

For instance, a sunny weekend may suggest optimal solar energy production, while high wind speeds could enhance output from wind farms.

Julian Lennertz, E.ON Next’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “By sponsoring the Energy Outlook Report, we are taking a proactive step in promoting renewable energy and encouraging positive behaviour change among viewers. “This report not only informs the public about the weather's impact on energy production but also highlights the importance of making sustainable choices in our everyday lives.”

Christa Thompson, UK & International Group Director, Paramount Advertising International said: "We're thrilled to partner with E.ON Next to bring Channel 5 viewers this exclusive, first of its kind renewable energy report which provides the brand with a unique opportunity to reach our upmarket audience at scale, every day of the week.”

Simplifying transition to sustainable living

E.ON Next’s mission is to eliminate barriers that prevent customers from embracing sustainable living. By leveraging innovative home energy technologies and providing clear, actionable information through the Energy Outlook Report, E.ON Next illustrates the transition to renewable energy as not only achievable but also essential.

The report serves as a vital resource for households looking to adapt their energy consumption in line with weather conditions. By aligning energy use with renewable production forecasts, customers can reduce their carbon footprint and save on bills simultaneously.

Looking ahead

As the UK continues its shift toward renewable energy sources, E.ON Next remains committed to supporting this transition. Through initiatives such as the Energy Outlook Report, E.ON Next is not only enhancing public understanding of renewable energy production but also encouraging a more sustainable future for all.

Julian Lennertz added: “Together, we can make energy choices that not only benefit our wallets but also protect the planet.

“We invite everyone to tune in to the Energy Outlook Report on Channel 5 and join us on this journey towards a greener, more sustainable future.”
